At the “Otkrytiye Arena” in Moscow, Cameroon face Chile for the first week of the Confederations Cup.
For a third time in their history, after 2001 and 2003, Cameroon take part in this tournament, as the last time, they finished in the second place. Last January, they won Copa Africa, as in the final they faced Egypt (2-1). One of the most powerful teams of Africa, but in this tournament they are outsiders, in a group with Germany and Chile. Outside from the squad are Nicolas N’koulou, Joel Matip, Allan Nyom, Erick Maxim Choupo-Moting and Clinton N’Jie. Also Ambroise Oyongo is injured, but he wanted to be with the rest of the team, despite he is not going to play.
On the other side, Chile make their debut in the tournament, after their win of Copa America 2015. Together with Germany and Portugal, they are favors for the thophy. In June, Pizzi ‘s team gave three friendly games, as they won Burkina Faso (3-0), they drew Russia (1-1) and lost against Romania (3-2), last Tuesday. In World Cup ‘s qualification, they are in the fourth place, with seven wins, two draws and five losses. Claudio Bravo is in the squad, but he is injured since April. Also, Alexis Sanchez is a doubt, after his hit in last Thursday ‘s training. Injured Mauricio Pinilla, Mark Gonzalez, Fabian Orellana, Carlos Carmona and Jorge Valvidia are all out of the squad.
